Firestone Park, Akron is located on the southeastern corner of Main and Exchange Streets in Akron Ohio. It was named after rubber pioneer Harvey S. Firestone and donated to the city of Akron in 1926 by his son, Willie H. Firestone. In 1931, President Herbert Hoover dedicated the park to the public.
Firestone Park had a problem with litter and some weeds which led to condemnation of the park. The city’s Public Works Department took care of it in 1969. The following year it became a beautiful oasis of green space and recreation for people from all over town.
